Inflatable Sculptures of Plastic at the
MQ - Vienna MuseumsQuartier
Under the motto "the art to innovate," enormous inflatable plastic sculptures visible from afar are exhibited at the front main entrance of the Vienna MuseumsQuartier. As part of the 10th anniversary celebrations of the MQ, different sculptures will be presented each week at the beginning of May, the end of June and the end of September 2011.
These so-called AirWorks have been created at the initiative of Borealis, one of the world's leading providers of innovative plastics solutions and base chemicals. Borealis invited 17 well-known Austrian artists to engage with the corporate vision "Shaping the Future with Plastics." The result: inflatable sculptures made of plastic which illuminate the diverse facets and flexibility of this versatile material. With its art project AirWorks, curated by Edelbert Köb, Borealis aims to convey the great versatility and innovative energy to be found in plastics.
