These pieces were done for the "Royal Couple" show at the Get Up Gallery in Las Vegas. We were asked to reimagine a suit from a deck of cards. I was assigned the king and queen of hearts - the Suicide King and Queen.
The King is often referred to as the "Suicide King" because he appears to be sticking his sword into his head. In other deck designs he is draw differently and could indicate someone else stabbed him. He is the 13th card in the deck and is the only king without a mustache.
